How it works

What End-to-End Encryption really means

When you send a message on BongoChat, it's scrambled into an unreadable format on your device. It travels through our servers in this encrypted state and is only unscrambled when it reaches the intended recipient's phone.

Keys stored on your device

The decryption keys never leave your phone, meaning we simply cannot read your messages.
Protection from breaches

Even if a server is compromised, your data remains unreadable ciphertext to the attacker.
Applies to everything

Texts, group chats, voice notes, file transfers, and video calls are all protected by default.

Can BongoChat read my messages?

No. With end-to-end encryption, messages are scrambled on your device and only unscrambled on the recipient's device. We do not hold the decryption keys, making it technically impossible for us to read your messages.

Does BongoChat share my data with third parties?

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share limited data only with service providers necessary to operate the app (like push notification services) and only under strict confidentiality agreements.

What happens if I lose my phone?

If you have the Biometric Lock enabled, unauthorized users cannot access your chats. You can also contact our support team to remotely log out your account from the lost device, ensuring your conversations remain safe.
